Anne Marie Houg attended rural school in aastad Township and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. She later attended Normal Teachers School and taught at both the Lake Park Children's Home and at the Carlisle School District. On June 20, 1926 she married Otto Houg at the Aastad Lutheran church. The couple made their home on the Houg Farm in Oscar Township until moving to Fergus Falls in 1959. She trained as a nurses aid at age 60 and was employed by the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center for ten years. She was a sixty three year active member of the Hedemarken Lutheran Church, it's Ladies Aid and Bible Classes. She was also active in the community, appearing in programs presenting her original poelms and readings. She corresponded with many many friends through letters using special clippings, poems, and puzzles . Her special hobby was her scrapbooks which she worked on regularly and shared with everyone.
