Dad used to talk about going up in the mountains near Cologne, Germany, to prepare for a big meeting of the Allied command. I speculate that it was at this hotel since a meeting was held between Ike, Bradley, Hodges, and Collins on 3/26/1945 and Dad had a few maps and brochures of this place. | ||

![]() | Vehicle Shipment Card This document was amongst Lester Denbrook's belongings discovered long after his death. It is believed to be for the Jeep that he drove off the landing craft when he landed at Utah Beach on D-Day+2. He used to tell the story that the landing craft stopped too far off shore and when he drove off, the Jeep sunk to the bottom and he had to leave it there and swim to shore. |
