They arrived in New York on June 8, 1869. The name of their ship was the "Britannia". It sailed from Glasgow, Scotland and Londonderry, Ireland. (Line 27, Microfilm serial M237, Microfilm Roll 312, List Number 612) They went originally to a settlment near Salem, Wisconsin. It was there that Ouden Olsen Houg was born on February 17, 1870. In the spring, with an ox team, they made the long journey of some four hundred miles and immigrated to Oscar Township, Ottertail County, Minnesota. Ole homesteaded one hundred and fify-four acres of land in sedctions 26 and 27 of Oscar township.
